Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about estimates, scheduling, materials and what to expect when AP Tile works in your home.

Estimates and scheduling
Contact us to confirm current estimate terms for your project. We explain what the visit covers before scheduling, so there are no surprises.
Photos of the space, any inspiration images, and a rough idea of your budget and timing help a lot. If you already picked materials, have the product names or samples handy.
Lead time depends on the season and project size. Exterior work fills up in spring and summer, while interior projects are easier to schedule in fall and winter. We give you a realistic start date with the estimate.
Tile work
We correct the wall first, either by shimming the framing, adding backer board or floating the surface. Large tiles on an uneven wall show every bump, so flattening is part of the job.
Yes. Stone needs the right white or polymer thinset, careful handling and sealing. We explain the care each stone requires before you commit.
Often, if you have spare tiles or a close match exists. We remove the damaged tiles, check why they cracked, and replace them. If the cause is a weak subfloor, we explain the options.
Carpentry and stairs
If the treads are solid hardwood in good condition, sanding and refinishing can work. If they are pine, damaged or were never meant to be exposed, new treads and risers usually look and wear better.
We build built-ins such as bookcases, benches and window seats on site. For full kitchen cabinetry, we install cabinets from suppliers and handle the trim and fitting.
Yes, using moisture-resistant materials such as PVC or primed hardwood, sealed and painted properly for a humid room.
Decks, siding, roofing and windows
Spring through fall gives the most predictable weather, though some exterior work continues through mild winter days. We plan around the forecast and protect open work from rain.
We try to source the same profile and color. When the original is discontinued or faded, we discuss options such as replacing a full wall section so the change is less noticeable.
Yes. Removal and disposal of old decking, siding, shingles, windows and doors are included in our exterior proposals.
Plaster and painting
Yes. We work room by room, protect your belongings and keep the rest of the house usable. Low-odor paints are available for sensitive households.
We can skim over or remove textured ceilings. Older textured ceilings may contain asbestos and must be tested before disturbance, and we will advise you on that step.
We move and cover most furniture. Fragile items, electronics and valuables are best moved by you before we arrive.
Basements and framing
Often yes. A basement bathroom needs drainage, which may require an upflush system or breaking concrete for new lines. We coordinate a licensed plumber and handle the framing, tile and finishes.
Ducts and pipes can sometimes be rerouted or boxed in tighter soffits. Lowering the floor is possible but costly. We measure and explain what is realistic.
When an estimate depends on what is behind a wall, we may suggest a small inspection opening. It is patched afterward or folded into the project.
Working with AP Tile
The AP Tile crew handles the work, and licensed trades we coordinate join only for their specific tasks. You will know who is coming and when.
Payment terms are stated in your written estimate, usually tied to project milestones. Ask us about the schedule that applies to your project.
